Good Times in Tokyo

See what happens when people stop being polite and start getting oolong'd.

Countdown to the speech of doom

I just realised yesterday that this speech is saturday. I don't have it memorised nor am I any good at it, so "ready" has no grip in my life. Should be a fun time.

Yesterday was this...party. I think. I'm not even sure what exactly it was. Some group called the FIC that is a club at Hosei threw a party about studying abroad and international things. And they really wanted the international students to come. It was basically a "meet the gaijin" party. Always a good time. It was on the top floor of Hosei and it was sort of like a school dance atmosphere. Can't really explain. But think of a party with a schedule. A strict schedule.

In the last month there has been a lot of protests at uni. I'm not sure what exactly it is about. What we can understand and what anyone understands is that a student was kicked out of school for protesting about a month or two ago and so they are protesting that. But no one really knows what this person was protesting in the beginning. It's supposedly kind of strange becuase Hosei was a really liberal school in the past and had big student protests all the time, but lately there is a big right-wing nationalism move in Japan and you can tell because these protests are really small and there are so many police officers around for these 2 people shouting into a megaphone. Yesterday was another protest.

Other than that, it's just the normal classes and such. But it's a sunny day. So that's newsworthy.

Here's some other pictures.

After the party last night.

The symbols of america are all here. Scantily clad woman in a negligee on top of an old big car, the stars and stripes and coffee. all for a dollar!

A sign for the "feeling zone" in the train. Basically you are supposed to turn off your cell phone for the people with pacemakers. But no one does. If you have a pacemaker. take a taxi.

A giant crab.

Some real Japanese poetry. Haiku is out.

Me out on the town. Not really. Just some random old man. I can't make up these things.
